When you work for yourself from home, you have what is probably the best possible job. As your own boss, you can take off-days and vacations whenever is best for you, instead of having to adapt your own schedule to suit what somebody else wants.
Here is a tip for anyone who is looking around for a profitable home business niche: dropship tea!
If it’s a bright, sunshiny day, you can get outside and play golf or go fishing, or whatever you like to do outdoors when the sun is shining. If it snows, you can knock off early for a snowball fight with the kids, or build a snowman, or make a snow angel.
If rainy days make you want to curl up in front of the fire with a cup of tea and a good book---go ahead!
When you have your own ecommerce business, you have personal freedom to be flexible with your working hours. Of course, you should keep in mind that you can’t consistently and habitually play hooky from your home office, or you’ll suffer financially. But, in most cases, you aren’t going to go broke if you take some regularly scheduled working hours for other pursuits and make them up later….when the sun isn’t shining or there hasn’t just been a fresh, beautiful snow fall or you aren’t in the mood to read.
One thing that doesn’t allow any leeway, though, is your niche.
You absolutely must choose a great niche for your dropshipping business, or you won’t be able to make a go of it and will have to go back to the daily grind; giving up all that wonderful freedom. Ugh!
Tea is a Profitable Niche
Tea is a profitable niche. People have been drinking tea for thousands of years and you can rest assured that it is in no danger of losing popularity any time soon.
When you dropship tea, you are open to a humongous global target market of potential customers who want to buy your products. The fact that tea is a year round market instead of a seasonal one is just icing on the cake.
Types of Tea
There are many types of tea. If you decide to dropship tea, you can offer healthy teas, fruit teas, herbal teas, medicinal teas, hot teas, cold teas…all sorts of tea!
Tea drinking has long been a revered tradition in many parts of the world such as China, Japan, England, Scotland, Ireland, India, Russia and more. The United States has been a little slow catching up, but the tea drinking population in America has seen a big boom during the last decade or so.
You might say that tea has become the darling of health foodies and scientists! Hardly a month goes by that we don’t see or hear of another health benefit of tea. Green tea, in particular, is HOT due to its slew of health benefits and anti-aging properties.
So, if you dropship tea, green tea should probably be on your virtual shelves.
The SymphonyIRI Group, a US market research firm, tracked retail tea sales by different segments. For instance, dollar sales of canned and bottled tea rose 1.87% to $1.30 billion, on a 3.91% unit sales gain, during the 52 weeks ended March 18, 2012 in U.S. supermarkets, drug stores and mass merchandise outlets.
Loose tea bags posted a dollar sales advance of 4.26% to $806.8 million, despite a 0.47% unit sales decline during the same period.
Meanwhile, dollar sales of refrigerated teas jumped ahead by 8.87% to $442.8 million, on a 4.83% unit sales gain, over the same period a year ago.
